Begin with the finish, not the badge.
Two cars from the same brand can have very different care requirements. Gloss paint, matte paint, wraps, paint protection film, and ceramic coatings should be identified before work starts. Bring the relevant product or manufacturer guidance into the conversation.
Know the interior materials.
Luxury interiors can combine leather, coated surfaces, delicate trim, and microfibre upholstery. A product suitable for one material may not be appropriate for another. Identify the materials and any existing treatments instead of assuming a single cleaner fits everything.
Set realistic expectations for the paint.
Discuss which marks you want improved and ask what can reasonably be achieved. Correction is not a promise to remove every defect. Previous polishing, repainting, and the condition of the clear coat can affect the appropriate approach.
Discuss access and handling.
For a low sports car or supercar, explain any access constraints and manufacturer-specific instructions. Confirm the workspace, weather arrangements, and whether the requested service is suitable before the appointment is accepted.
