MASSACHUSETTS DRIVING

A Massachusetts driver’s seasonal car-care checklist.

Plan your car care around winter road treatment, spring cleanup, and the conditions your vehicle actually sees.

Winter roads deserve a plan.

MassDOT uses anti-icing and de-icing treatments to manage winter road conditions. Salt and road residue can build up on a vehicle during winter driving. Plan cleaning around safe temperatures and suitable facilities, following your vehicle manufacturer’s guidance.

Treat the spring reset as an inspection.

Take a look at paint, wheels, mats, and the cabin after winter. Note what you want addressed, including visible residue or stains, and share it with your detailer. A cleaning appointment is also a chance to discuss the condition of the finish before considering correction or protection.

Respond to summer use.

A garage-kept weekend car and a vehicle parked outside every day see different conditions. Consider parking, exposure, mileage, and the finish when planning care. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for removing contaminants and maintaining any existing coating or film.

Prepare for your appointment.

Remove personal belongings, identify any sensitive materials, and discuss a suitable working area. Outdoor mobile services depend on the weather and site conditions; ask about the plan before your appointment date.
